Mashed Potatoes, Fixing Thanksgiving, & Real Empathy
Home cooked copywriting examples for your enjoyment.
Hi, I’m Ben Watkins 👋 Thanks for joining another edition of La Vie Ben Rose. Every week, I unravel copywriting examples from the most recognized brands.
Happy Saturday!
I’m full on ready for Thanksgiving. I will be in a food coma for a few days, but I shall return with more copywriting examples.
Also, having kids reminds me that I have a zillion holiday events. Oh what fun it is.
Onward and forward!
I. Mashed Potatoes
I love this wordplay. Maybe it’s too cheesy, but I still do it. I love how unapologetic it is in showing how delicious they are.
Have fun when you’re writing copy. You don’t need perfection. You just need to get people to stop and read.
II. Fixing Thanksgiving
If you can make your messaging relate to seasonal holidays (without being cheesy), you are winning.
This is visual wordplay + subtle humor + seasonal timing = winning ad.
III. Real Empathy
This headline could have just said, “Hate bookkeeping? We got you covered.”
That would actually spell boring. Instead, it’s empathetic. It puts the reader at the center of attention.
And it focuses on how it can help them.
When you're ready, here are a few ways I can help you 👇

The wishbone pic is classic! My family loves fighting over the wishbone;) Gobble 'til ya wobble, Ben! Simplistic copy with stellar graphic design. It's the best combo.
